The IPL as it’s known features a handful of cricket greats, this is mainly down to the fact that those who own the Cricket teams in India are willing to shell out huge wages to those with serious cricketing quality. These big names have helped the sport in not only India but all around the world to grow and it comes as no surprise that some bookies have jumped at the opportunity to open new markets on the IPL and in-play events for their live matches.

Betting Advice

Conditions –

Keep up-to-date with the weather, especially in test matches. The obvious concern to any team is rain. Rain has the ability to not only halt play but also stop any match from being completed. It will also affect the teams tactics in regards to their match situation. If a team opens the batting and puts on a poor batting tally then they could hope for rain in order to save the test from being a defeat and instead saviour a draw.

Injuries –

Injuries in cricket is common. Because players can often spend several hours in the field, chasing the ball constantly, that can lead to fatigue and a higher chance of catching an injury if you’re a player. Key players can often pull out of a match just days before a match can kick-off so make sure you’re aware of any big name injuries and check who will come into the squad to replace them.

Form & Confidence –

Just like any other sport, confidence is key for a cricketer. If they’ve been scoring runs for fun and getting the odd 100 here and there then their confidence in not only their own ability but those of their fellow team mates will be high. Players will be confident in their shot selections whereas if they struggling for runs then they will be reserved about what shots they go for and could start doubting their ability. The same applies to bowlers. If they’ve been taking a lot of wickets lately then their bowling lines and speed will be good.

Team Situations –

Betting on a series winner goes on throughout the series. Ensure you know the series score throughout as this can affect the way a team can play. If England are losing 2-1 with one test to go then they will be doing all they can to draw the series. However, if England are 3-0 down then spirits will be low and chances are the players will be too deflated to put in a match winning performance.
